Recovery Essentials

GETCHA RECOVERY HEAAAAAH. FRESH RECOVERY RIGHT OFF THE PRESS.

Here’s a list of things that have been helpful in my rugby recovery, especially because I ain’t getting any younger. Items with a star have been especially great for tournaments. Click on the name of the item to go directly to Amazon (all associate links). I would love to hear your own suggestions so please feel free to comment with your own recovery essentials!

The weighted shoulders with a button snap and waist tie are…*chefs kiss*

These go a long way, even 2-3 beans at halftime or between games at a tournament are a great boost

These also pack a punch, 2-3 beans are plenty!!

I have put myself in ridiculous positions to use this thing on all sorts of body parts 🤣 including shins, hips, triceps, even forearms!!!

The QUEEN of massage therapy. Worth every penny, lasts forever

Nothing beats it in cost-effectiveness ratio and so easy to travel with

The smaller chirp roller is also easier for travel and easy to use as a regular foam roller pretty much anywhere

Good for an extra stretch and some extra mobility

I appreciate, again, how easy these are to carry. As you may have seen in my rugby bag video, electrolyte drink pouches can get crunched up and gross if not stored correctly 😅

Blue is my favorite Gatorade color ☺️ I do appreciate that with drink powders you can have a little more control over how much powder you use in a drink, rather than kinda having all or nothing with a tablet

Probably my preferred brand for game day electrolytes - mixes REALLY well and feels more lightweight than other electrolyte powders. Not overpowering but still a great taste

Epsom Salts (+ Bin for a foot bath)

SOOOOOOOOOO EFFECTIVE AND UNDERRATED. Being kangaroo courted by my team for leaving a team dinner early to take an epsom salt bath will always be worth it 🤣

Wash your hands after use!!!!!!

Less messy pain relief lotion option

I have literally taped these to my shins before when having shin splints before a game 😅😅😅

GET AFTER IT, not the most appetizing but IT’S CHUGGABLE WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR

Sounds silly but sometimes I just need a specific “thing” or space to lay out and focus on stretching…or else I just never end up doing it

I will never forget when I was at a rugby camp and was told “rugby is 90% recovery.” It’s an easy thing to forget but quite literally a game changer. Don’t ignore it until it’s too late!!!!
