Alas, the beast that can be the team dinner.
ESPECIALLY when it comes to women’s rugby.
I’m sure this is true for all kinds of sports, and for all sorts of genders in sports, but women’s rugby combines high numbers of people, lots of needed energy for game day, and just straight up different wants or needs for that night-before-game-day fuel. Combine that with an OVERNIGHT TRIP where you might not need to plan meals for game purposes but just to save some money? 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
FRET NOT. Here’s some proven (and hypothetical) team dinner options to get through it.
First off, some quick reminders:
You’re not going to make everyone happy, and that’s okay
You might not be THRILLED about the team dinner choice, and that’s okay
The Team dinner isn’t ACTUALLY about the food
The last bullet point might be controversial but I think it’s true.
Really these are primary goals of a team dinner:
ENJOY EACH OTHER’S COMPANY AND SPEND SOME TIME TOGETHER THE NIGHT BEFORE A GAME
how do we feed everyone at a reasonable cost
how do we make sure there is something for everyone to eat (if there are dietary restrictions)
where can we cut down on prep and clean up work if possible
